A few months ago, this girl {@keyairruh on Twitter} this really epic thread of book recommendations based on albums you liked on Twitter. I am naturally drawn to anything involving music, so I saved the ones I was the most interested in for future reference.
After reading up on all the books, I was on a mission to try to find them at my local library. Out of the six I intend to read, I've recently finished the first one, 1/6, which was absolutely incredible and I'm strongly considering writing a book review on it. I am currently reading a second one from her list:
- 'American Street' by: Ibi Zoboi
- based on: Pretty Girls Like Trap Music - 2Chainz
- 'The House on Mango Street' by: Sandra Cisneros
- based on: A Seat at the Table - Solange
I truly commend this young lady for executing such a dope concept, as well as on the time, effort, and patience it must've taken to curate that list. Because of her, I was inspired to curate a play list of my own based on the book. If you read 'American Street', I encourage you to listen to this mix tape or listen to the play list before you read the book; either way, they both make sense together, just like the album, Pretty Girls Like Trap Music did by the time I completed the book.
