At first listen, I wasn't an immediate fan of Jhene Aiko's latest release, Souled Out. However, I was open to giving it another chance, because I have always been a fan of her music. It was then, on second listen, I realized what I was missing. It certainly didn't take long for me to grow in love with this compilation.
W.A.Y.S., To Love & Die, Wading & Brave are my favorites. Like you said, the whole album sounds like a sweet lullaby, but I look forward to seeing her grow vocally.
ReplyDeleteI love listening to her music while studying - her voice is angelic!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to check it out. I was a little skeptical but these are some songs I will def look out for.
ReplyDeleteI was too...but I enjoyed it. Tell me what you think when you get a chance to listen!
DeleteI'm so excited to own this baby tomorrow. Your review has definitely concluded for me that it's a must. I love the way you describe her voice because I feel like it encompasses everything I feel when I hear her. She's a great songwriter and I'm excited to hear her growth because she's a true artist and I love that she's been able to create a niche for herself by performing her art the way she intended. Stay true to yourself and things do happen for you.
ReplyDeletethough i'm not a huge fan of her voice, i love the way in wish she puts her most inner thoughts and feelings to song.
ReplyDeletew.a.y.s is definitely my favorite track on this ep.
i would have said promises if it didn't make me cry every damn time, haha.
